Case Study:
How SEO and Content Helped a Canadian Cybersecurity Brand Scale Visibility by Over 600%
Not every company can rely on a big ad budget to get noticed. For this global cybersecurity brand, the challenge wasn’t product-market fit—it was visibility. Despite a strong reputation in their industry and a founder who was active on LinkedIn, their website wasn’t attracting the attention it deserved.
In 2023, they reached out to me with one goal in mind: build a sustainable, content-driven strategy that could bring in leads organically, boost their authority in the cybersecurity space, and make their website work harder for the business.
What followed was a high-impact campaign built on SEO fundamentals, strategic content planning, and consistent optimization. Here’s how I did it.
About This Cybersecurity Company
This Canada-based cybersecurity firm was created to make enterprise-grade security and compliance accessible to growing businesses. Their mission is to simplify complex frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001 through an all-in-one platform that combines automation with expert insights.
More than just a software company, they position themselves as a strategic partner—guiding clients through risk reduction, compliance audits, and cybersecurity best practices. With a human-first approach and global clientele, they’re trusted by startups and mid-sized companies to stay secure and compliant without getting overwhelmed.
The Challenge
While the company had momentum on LinkedIn—thanks to an engaged founder and active community—they were facing several growth challenges:
- Low visibility on Google: Their blog content wasn’t optimised, and their service pages lacked clear keyword targeting.
- No structured content strategy: Topics were chosen ad hoc, without alignment to user search intent or long-term goals.
- Limited conversion tracking: They didn’t know which pages or content types were driving leads.
- Reliance on social reach: Most traffic came from LinkedIn, leaving them vulnerable to algorithm changes or platform fatigue.
To scale sustainably, they needed to make organic search a viable traffic and lead source—without pouring budget into paid ads.
Where I Rocked
This wasn’t just about writing blog posts and fixing metadata. It was about building a full ecosystem of SEO and content that aligned with their brand voice, business goals, and growth trajectory. Here’s what we tackled:
Technical SEO Audit & Implementation
I conducted a comprehensive audit to fix crawling issues, ensure proper indexing, and implement structured data where needed. This cleared the foundation for better visibility and helped reduce technical roadblocks that were limiting search performance.
Conversion Tracking via GA4 and Tag Manager
We added event tracking for key actions—like demo requests and contact form submissions—so the team could finally tie content performance to business results. This also uncovered underperforming pages that needed reworking.
Content Calendar & Topic Ideation
Based on keyword research and competitor analysis, I developed a monthly blog strategy focused on high-intent topics in cybersecurity, compliance, pentesting, and risk management. Each blog was designed not just for traffic, but for driving engagement and conversions. These topics also doubled as content pillars for LinkedIn and YouTube, creating consistency across platforms.
Content Optimization
We refreshed underperforming service pages with clearer messaging, improved metadata, and keyword alignment. I also optimized existing blog posts for better readability, featured snippet potential, and internal linking.
Content Management
To keep things moving, I coordinated with in-house and freelance writers—assigning tasks, providing briefs, editing drafts, and ensuring everything met SEO and brand standards.

From Social First to SEO-Driven:
Turning Smart SEO Into Sustained Growth
After two years of consistent optimisation, strategy, and content execution, the numbers tell a powerful story:
From February 2023 to 2025, Organic Search became the top-performing channel, now contributing 60.24% of total website traffic.
This means the brand is no longer dependent solely on LinkedIn or founder-led visibility—they’re now showing up where it matters: in Google search results, right when potential clients are looking for cybersecurity solutions.

We started to see strong traction in July 2023, coinciding with the rollout of optimised blog articles and updated service pages. Although there was a dip in October 2024 due to a temporary tracking issue, the growth trend continued—despite the campaign slowing down due to budget constraints. That’s the power of evergreen content and strong SEO foundations.
First year, we can see an increase of 38% in organic search sessions and an 94% increase in engaged sessions

Second year, we can see a huge increase 492% in sessions and total new users increased by 672%.

Google Search Console Data when we started

…..where we’re at.

That’s a 919% increase in clicks and a 62,747% increase in search impressions, proving that the content is now showing up for hundreds of relevant search queries—many of which are high-intent.
Conclusion
SEO and content aren’t quick wins—but they’re powerful when done right. By building a strategy rooted in the client’s business goals, speaking their customers’ language, and backing it all with clean SEO and performance tracking, I turned an underutilized website into a lead-generating asset.
And the best part? Even with content paused temporarily, the growth hasn’t stopped—because good content keeps working long after it’s published.
