Kung Fu Panda 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean Showing This Week

More awesome movies on the half of 2011

The year 2011 has a lot of great films in-stored for the movie buff. It’s only half way through the year and yet we’re already laid with numerous must-watch films in Hollywood. Films like the Red Riding Hood, Green Hornet, 127 Hours, and Sucker Punch have truly captured our interest with its intriguing plots, mesmerizing special effects, and beautiful setting (though some of it is computer generated).

And this week, another two awaited movies are finally screened in Philippine cinemas. Kung Fu Panda 2 and the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides are showing in theaters nationwide. Being sequels to awesome movies, movie goers have long been anticipating to satisfy their curiosity on these installments.

Kung Fu Panda 2

Director: Jennifer Yuh

Genre: Action/Animation/Comedy/Family

Rating: GP

Synopsis:

Pois now living his dream as the Dragon Warrior. Along with friends, Po is in charge of protecting the Valley of Peace. However, Po’s new life is threatened by the emergence of a villain who’s planning to conquerChina.Pois now forced to confront the mysteries of the past to gain the strength and power needed to defeat evil. His “journey” to the past leads him to uncover secrets of his mysterious origins.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Director: Rob Marshall

Genre: Action/Adventure/Fantasy

Stars: Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz and Ian McShare

Rating: PG-13

Synopsis:

Orlando Bloom may no longer be a part of this Pirates’ sequel but Johnny Depp has it all taken care of. In the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbeanseries, Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on quest to find the elusive fountain of youth. On their venture, they’ve discovered that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.

At it’s just getting started. There are more epic films to watch out for this coming June and July.

  

X-Men First Class

Stars: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence

Synopsis:

Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magnetto, they were young men discovering their powers for the first time. In 1963, Xavier founded a school for those with superhuman abilities. Lensherr was a part of this school and was Xavier’s bestfriend. They work together with other mutants to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. However, a rift between Xavier and Lensherr opened. Lensherr became Xavier’s archenemy then on thus started the war among Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-men.

 

Hangover 2

 

Director: Todd Phillips

Genre: Comedy

Stars: Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms

Synopsis:

Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. In spite the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu’s Thailand escapade didn’t go as planned as well. Although Stu has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch, what happened in Bangkok is far beyond imagination.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Genre: Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi

Stars: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson

Synopsis:

The Autobots are back in action and they are bound to take on the evil Decepticons. After the Revenge of the Fallen, the Decepticons are dedicated to eradicate and take revenge on the Autobots. In this installment of the Transformers series, the Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon and race against the Decepticons to reach it. This could turn the tide in the Transformers’ final battle.
